Boarding Overview

Welcome to LifeWithParrots! We are a home-based business that offers a quality overnight boarding service, providing our boarders with out-of-cage playtime and 12 hours of undisturbed sleep each night. We’ll do everything we can to ensure your bird has the best experience possible, and you can feel confident knowing your bird will be properly cared for during their stay.

The Boarding Room:

This is the main boarding room, measuring 20ft x 9ft, and it houses 18 of our 21 boarding cages for birds to use during their stay. Boarding cages range from 1/2″ – 1-1/4″ bar spacing for extra-small to large-sized birds and include perches, dishes, and swings. The room is maintained at 20 degrees Celsius, and we utilize a Rabbit Air MinusA2 air purifier and an industrial fan to ensure clean air circulation. Each bird will have a separate boarding cage, unless birds from the same household share a cage at home, and birds will come out together or separately, depending on their personality and the owner’s preference.

What To Bring:

Owners are responsible for bringing enough food and toys for their birds’ stay. Fresh/frozen food should be in a labelled ziplock bag, and all other supplies should be in a labelled bag or bin. We can not guarantee the security of other people’s cages and want to avoid the risk of injuries caused by escapees, so we do not allow people to bring their cages, unless it’s a King’s Cage with the same locking design.

Booking:

We require a minimum of 1 week’s notice for boarding to ensure we have available space, especially during the summer vacation (June 15 – September 15)  and winter holiday (December 15 – January 15) season. Last-minute bookings or changes made without a week’s notice before the drop-off date will result in a $20 late notice fee added to the boarding total *during these busy seasons only*. This does not affect the free cancellation policy or extending/reducing stays once the bird is dropped off. If you need to cancel the boarding reservation, that’s no problem; just let us know as soon as possible.

Drop-off / Pickups:

All drop-off and pickup times MUST be scheduled ahead of time (no later than the morning of) between 8AM and 8PM to ensure we are home when you arrive. If you are over 30 minutes late for your scheduled time, we will reach out to confirm a new time; however, if we do not hear from you, please do not show up without rescheduling your pick-up or drop-off time, as we may not be home.

Bird Requirements:

• Be in general good health. Plucking/barbering due to stress, habit, or hormones is acceptable
• Be completely weaned for at least 2 weeks
• Have no open wounds or recent major injuries (occurring within one (1) month before the boarding date)
• Be harnessed or in a carrier when entering and exiting LifeWithParrots

Special discounts available for seasonal stays (90+ nights) or boarding 4 or more birds
